SUMMARY: The Warehouse Outbound Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of outbound operations within the warehouse, ensuring customer orders are picked, checked, staged, and prepared efficiently and accurately. This role requires strong organizational skills, leadership capabilities, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high safety, quality, and customer service standards.

POSITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Outbound Operations Management:
  • Supervise all outbound warehouse activities, including order picking, order checking and staging.
  • Ensure customer orders are picked accurately and according to company standards and customer requirements.
  • Monitor orders to ensure products, quantities, and special instructions are properly verified before shipment.
  • Coordinate outbound workflow to ensure orders are completed and staged according to scheduled delivery requirements.
  • Monitor daily workload and adjust priorities based on customer needs, delivery schedules, and operational requirements.
  • Ensure outbound paperwork is completed accurately and turned in according to company procedures.
  • Help minimize mispulls, shipping errors, damaged products, and other outbound-related issues.
  • Leadership:
    • Direct and supervise a team of warehouse staff, ensuring proper training and adherence to company policies and procedures.
    • Assign tasks, manage schedules, and monitor employee performance to achieve productivity and accuracy goals.
    • Provide coaching, direction, and corrective feedback when necessary.
    • Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, communication, and respect.
    • Ensure employees understand daily priorities, expectations, and changes to outbound operations.
    • Assist with onboarding and training new warehouse employees in outbound processes and procedures.
 
  • Order Accuracy & Quality
    • Monitor the picking and checking process to ensure orders are fulfilled accurately.
    • Establish and reinforce proper procedures for verifying products, quantities and order information.
    • Investigate outbound errors and work with appropriate departments to identify root causes and prevent repeat issues
    • Monitor product handling practices to reduce damage and maintain quality
    • Ensure special instructions, customer notes and other order requirements are communicated and followed.
 
  • Process Optimization:
    • Identify and implement improvements to streamline outbound processes and enhance operational efficiency
    • Review outbound processes for opportunities to reduce errors, wasted time, unnecessary movement and product damage.
    • Assist in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures for outbound operations.
    • Monitor workflow and recommend staffing or process adjustments based on operational needs.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the warehouse.
 
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure all inbound activities comply with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.
    • Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free environment.
    • Enforce proper use of any PPE and safe operations of forklifts, pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment.
    • Address unsafe behaviors and conditions promptly.
 
  • Inventory Coordination:
    • Work closely with inventory and warehouse personnel to resolve product shortages, location issues, and order discrepancies.
    • Communicate inventory concerns that may affect outbound order fulfillment.
    • Assist with inventory counts and cycle counts as needed.
    • Ensure products are handled and moved appropriately during the picking, staging, and loading processes.
 
  • Communication and Reporting:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including customer service, sales, purchasing, inventory, routing, drivers, and management.
    • Communicate order issues, delays, shortages, damages, and other outbound concerns in a timely manner.
    • Provide management with updates regarding outbound performance, staffing, workload, and operational issues.
    • Prepare and present monthly reports on outbound operations performance.

General Warehouse Duties
  • Load and unload materials from trucks and delivery vehicles as needed.
  • Move products using forklifts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, or other approved material-handling equipment.
  • Accurately pick orders for shipment according to company standards.
  • Inspect products for damage and verify shipment accuracy.
  • Report damaged, missing, or incorrect items to management immediately.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of warehouse and outbound areas.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE.
  • Follow instructions and standard operating procedures for handling materials and fulfilling orders.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, drivers, and team members regarding task completion and issues encountered.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment; certification a plus.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse practices and outbound procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling products, orders, and documentation.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be able to lift, carry, and move items up to 50 lbs.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • High School Education or GED equivalent.
  • 3+ years in warehouse operations, with 1 year minimum as a supervisor.
